Without Flour, there is No Torah
Sayings of the Fathers 3:21

In order to assure the future of Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish people and to overcome efforts to deprive the State of its Jewish national character, there is an overwhelming need for a central vehicle which will encourage and support Zionist activities in Israel. To this end, we have established the National Fund for Zionist Renewal (NFZR). The need for the NFZR is so pressing, that its establishment has become the Movement for Zionist Renewal’s first priority.

The NFZR will concentrate large sums of money within a central Fund for distribution to worthwhile Zionist projects in Israel and for the establishment of new ones, as the need arises. A major advantage in the creation of a centralized fund-raising organization is that by setting priorities, available financial resources can be utilized as effectively as possible.

It should be stressed that the NFZR will not compete with the fund-raising activities of existing organizations. (Some of their representatives are members of our Movement.) In fact, the large majority of Zionist-oriented organizations are severely limited in their activity due to their limited budgets; instead of concentrating upon what they know how to do best, they often have no choice but to expend valuable time and resources in order to solicit financial backing.

The NFZR will not only benefit the existing organizations but will lead to increased cooperation between them, for the good of all and the Zionist endeavor in general. For, our goal is to significantly increase the total funds available for Zionist activity.

The NFZR will provide funding to NGOs for,

  1. Insuring that Israel is a Jewish democracy.
  2. Providing Zionist educational programs in Israel.
  3. A judiciary system which does not undermine Israel’s character as the nation-state of the Jewish people.
  4. Removing the anti-Zionist and post-Zionist bias of the media and providing programming of Zionist value.
  5. Legal assistance and financial backing for Zionist-oriented activities.
  6. Parliamentary lobbying for pro-Zionist legislation and Zionist goals.
  7. Public organizations active in defending the Jewish right to Eretz Israel.

The funding for the NFZR will come from a variety of sources. These include major philanthropists, existing foundations and the Zionist public at large.

Finally, to paraphrase the founder of Political Zionism, Theodor Herzl,

Only if we really wish, will it not remain a dream
